Why "The Resistance"?

We chose the name based on scripture's command and exhortation to resist things of this world (James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8-9, Ephesians 6:10-12), to fight against sinful desires of our flesh (Romans 8:1-17, Galatians 5:16-18). We must daily take on the struggle and not let our faith be idle. The name also harkens to times in history, such as WW2, when during the course of a struggle an enemy has occupied a land and the people of the land rise up as a resistance movement to contend with them, to gain their freedom. We live in a world claimed by a spiritual enemy and the stakes were never higher. We have chosen, as God's people, to rise up against this old foe and say "Enough"! As servants of the Risen King, we desire to set the captives free and deny Satan any victory (Luke 4:17-19).
